My name is Mrs. Linda Magyar. I was born and raised in this area and am the oldest of six children. My father was an attorney in Youngstown and my mother is a wonderful homemaker. I graduated from Canfield High School and earned my B.S. degree in Health and Physical Education from Kent State University. In high school, I was on the girls' basketball team at Canfield. In college, I played field hockey and was on the track team for Kent State, while also playing soccer for the Youngstown Steel Valley Women's Soccer League. During my college summers I was a lifeguard and swim instructor at area pools, including the Canfield Swim Club. I was also the swim team coach and pool manager at Tippecanoe Country Club for several years. I've coached for Canfield's summer youth recreational soccer program and was the 7th grade girls' volleyball coach at Canfield Village Middle School. My husband Philip and I have five children who are all Canfield graduates and have all graduated from college. Our oldest daughter, Christina, graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from University of South Florida, and is now a teacher in Florida with her husband, daughter and son. Michael graduated from The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis and is now a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in North Carolina with his wife and son. Victoria graduated from Youngstown State University where she majored in Communications with an emphasis on Media Broadcasting, a minor in Telecommunications, a Masters in Education and is now a school counselor in Florida. Stephen graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. degree in Art Education, and is now an Art teacher in Ohio, as well as a Captain in the Ohio Army National Guard. Madelynn graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. degree in Fashion Merchandising, a minor in Marketing and is now a Junior Retail Buyer for an online retail company. I enjoy cooking, cleaning, eating great food and staying active. In the summer, you can find me swimming and gardening at my home. I am so excited to be working with all the wonderful children this year and can't wait to see what this school year brings!
